industrious or bored - you decide

The boys have completely emptied the shed and spread all of their toys in a straight line.

I'm fielding captions, b/c I just can't come up with one funny enough.

Yay!! Lyme Disease!!!

Being a fairly neglectful dog mommy, I waited to call the vet when Rocky started coughing. I thought, well, we are all hacking our guts up, why not him too? Fast forward to when Rocky suddenly cannot stand up. He's a100lb chocolate lab; I'm sure it's hip dysplasia. I've got my fears about where this is headed...

The vet couldn't see him until the day after I called. In the meantime, Rocky had to be carried outside and stopped eating. Research I'd read about hip dysplasia was not optimistic and included hip replacement!

I've rarely been so happy as when I heard the words LYME DISEASE aka treatable!!! He is already better, less than 24 hours later and has been quickly up and down the stairs, is eating and seems to be almost his own self.

whhoooops!

Thursday evening Scott has rehearsal. As a blessed and fortuitous twist of scheduling, the boys have all had swim classes on Thursday afternoon also. I have come to really enjoy a night off. It doesn't hurt that Ugly Betty & Grey's Anatomy are both on. For the most recent series of classes, the Y changed the classes so that our levels are on Monday afternoon. Plus? I get sleepy boys on Monday. The class time is now free swim, family time on Thursday. We've adjusted our schedules a bit and now the boys get to swim 2x a week and twice a week we have stellar bedtimes.

I realized yesterday that though I had a bag of bathing suits and towels ready to go, I was missing some suits. With a groan, I remembered having left them in the sauna (I toss them in for a few minutes so they aren't sopping wet in my bag). OK, no big deal, I'll try to remember to stop by and dig through the lost and found.

Fast forward to the Y employee making cracks about a mom who forgets her suits so often that they joke about her storing her suits there. Until I fish out not just their three suits, but one, oops TWO of mine AND another whole set of theirs. In case you've lost count, that is EIGHT bathing suits, ten if you count my tops and bottoms separately.

A Day in the Life

I've always known they are super. Now they have the capes to prove it.

Take one noise maker and two vinyl bins and you get....

Suction cup feet and a snorkel.

He even breathes like he's underwater. huh-uh-huh-uh-huh-uh

And this is Gramma's hat that Sammy wouldn't give back to her on the Vineyard. It is the headgear of choice if the coonskin caps aren't around.

Should be napping...

We've all had colds. I really don't mind the sniffles. As a family, we usually are snotty from October to April. We own two humidifiers and the BJs-sized Puffs Plus. Last night, Noah dialed it up a notch to crying because "it really really really hurt inside my ear." Did you know that holistic health suggests riding out an ear infection?? Well stare into the face of your agonized baby and listen to him cry and then try to tell him to suck it up three days.

Noah was up and crying and Aidan is snorky and not sleeping. Suddenly we were thrown back to infancy days with two crying babies. The only plus now is that they could at least tell us why they were crying.

Pluses end there because we were up for the next four hours. Noah slept in 15 minute jags, but couldn't stay comfortable. Finally Scott put on his pants to take him to the walk-in clinic. Oh glorious antibiotics!!!! But, I quickly (as quickly as I do anything on 2 hours of sleep) did the math and thought that may not be a good idea since it was 4:30 and they easily could have ended up there all morning. In a stroke of brilliance, Scott suggested tv. I took Noah to the couch and put on Sesame Street on-demand (the longest show I could find). He watched an entire episode while I slept. I woke up to him laughing about Mr. Noodle. By the time the second Sesame Street was over, he was blessedly fast asleep.

Two hours later, when he woke up, he popped up and cheered at the mention of breakfast. No sign of a fever. No sign of ear infection. We are utterly wiped out today but on the mend it would seem!
