Worlds come crashing together

Bill Cosby's got a new show. No need to check your watch. It isn't 1980-something. Bill Cosby is still fantastic and has a way of relating to kids with strong, ethical, positive messages that don't annoy their parents in the delivery. "Little Bill" is on my favorites list and I've even summoned him up in discipline conversations. I also *love* that there is no cutsey spelling "L'il"



Contrasting sharply to LB is another new show on Noggin called Yo Gabba Gabba. It promises lots of music and dance, plus the requisite attention-grabbing characters. In theory it all sounds great. EXCEPT it is one big freak show!!!! DJ Lance is reminiscent of Electric Company circa 1974. Remember when Spider Man was a feature character? Well, Yo Gabba Gabba has "Foofa, the pink flower bubble" (their words, not mine).

Still there was more that I just couldn't put my finger on that bugged me. Until the credits rolled and I saw. Wait! No way. Oh NO! Artistic and musical credit was given to Biz Markie, one hit wonder of the 80's, more specifically of one of the 80's. "You, you got what I need but you say hes just a friend. And you say hes just a friend, oh baby...."

Yea, back to the Backyardigans & Little Bill!
